At Tuesday's School Board meeting, Jamestown High School was recognized for two achievements. As part of their Economics and Personal Finance class, students take the W!se Financial Literacy Certification Test to demonstrate their knowledge in personal finance and financial literacy. Jamestown has been recognized by W!SE – the Working in Support of Education organization – as a Blue Star School for the significant amount of students demonstrating proficiency on the certification test. Also, Jamestown earned Silver recognition on the 2024 AP School Honor Roll from the College Board. The AP School Honor Roll from the College Board recognizes schools for advancing Advanced Placement access and success. Recognized schools must meet criteria for providing access to AP classes and exams; the amount of students scoring a 3 or higher on the AP exam – which traditionally leads to college credit; and encouraging students to take AP classes throughout their high school experience. Congratulations to our high school theatre students on their participation in Virginia Theatre Association's (VTA) One Act Competition! Jamestown High School was named the Virginia Theatre Association State Runner-Up and Virginia’s official selection to the South Eastern Theatre Conference. They will be headed to Baltimore in March!
