As the year comes to a close, I'm reflecting on how grateful I am to be part of WIT // HSV and its mission to break down barriers to tech careers. It’s been an honor to serve on the Operations Team since 2023, helping create opportunities that empower individuals to succeed in tech—all at no cost to attendees. ?? My goal for WIT // HSV this year was to encourage more students to get involved. I know how intimidating the professional sphere can be for college students, so I came up with the idea for our first-ever JumpStart event, designed to give students networking tips and resume feedback to prepare them for our annual career fair. We welcomed 50 attendees from two universities! Thank you to Halle Huber and Rigved Joshi for helping make my vision a reality, and to Nicole McDavid, Menley Schofield, and Mona Foroughi for leading educational workshops at the event. We also strengthened our connection with The University of Alabama in Huntsville student body by partnering with the Women in Cybersecurity Student Chapter at UAH, and the UAH chapter of the Society of Women Engineers, and Women in Business and Leadership at UAH. I knew JumpStart was a success when I saw so many more students attending this year's CareerNAV, which brought together 120+ guests and 11 employers for a night of networking, career-building, and meaningful connections. We are truly building a multigenerational organization. From personalized resume reviews and professional headshots, to one-on-one conversations with recruiters, the completely free resources we offered are a testament to how much WIT // HSV cares about uplifting our community. Looking back on these events and the impact WIT // HSV has made this year, I feel so blessed to get to contribute to a group that is truly making a difference. We’re proud to celebrate?Halle, who is graduating with a BA in Communication Arts from The University of Alabama in Huntsville as?UAH College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences‘s Top Scholar! ?? Halle has been an incredible part of the team, serving as a social media intern at the UAH I2C and a member of the WIT // HSV operations team since January. She brought her creative vision to life with the “Faces” Reels series and played a key role in revitalizing “WIT Talk”, producing an impressive 14 podcast episodes. She also made an impact as host of the “WIT’s Guide to STEAM” podcast. Her impressive achievements include:? ?
