High performers don’t perform for their job or their employer. They don’t perform for incentives either. They perform for themselves. It’s what they are. Some people just can’t stand being mediocre. It’s just beneath them. They cannot look themselves in the mirror if they are average. It hurts their self esteem. That’s what pushes them and makes them what they are. No incentives will be attractive enough for people who are already satisfied with themselves. No goal will be large enough for high performers. High performers will work on weekends and burn themselves just because they want to prove to themselves that they can outperform everyone else. Entrepreneurship becomes very easy if you have even a few such people on your team. You will always have something to look forward to the next day, and get inspired by your team mates.
