According to a recent study, nearly 80% of Fortune 500 companies have integrated AI into at least one stage of their hiring process. As AI becomes more embedded into recruitment, concerns have emerged about its potential to perpetuate existing biases, leading to discrimination based on race, gender, and socioeconomic background. To mitigate these risks, companies must develop comprehensive AI governance policies that establish guidelines for ethical AI use, regular audits, and human oversight. It is common for family business owners to desire to keep the ownership of the business in the bloodline. This can lead to a spouse who marries into a family business essentially being disinherited if they are widowed. Their children may inherit the ownership in the family business, possibly leaving the surviving parent with little to no financial resources. It is important to consider how assets are being accumulated outside of the business for the benefit of a surviving spouse. It may be wise to consider life insurance to provide a death benefit and financial security to the surviving spouse. Read more in our latest blog from Aspiriant ?? https://hubs.la/Q035C58M0

Fairness and equality are key to family businesses, and if left unclear can cause a breakdown in family relationships.
Supporting business owners and leaders, multi-generational business owning families, and family offices to plan and focus and on what is important to achieve their goals.
Fairness (fair) and equality (equal or same) are key themes in a family business. A family needs to clearly define what fair means and what equal means in the context of the business. Without clear definitions that are agreed, communicated and understood, family members can feel aggrieved, and left unchecked this escalates to a breakdown in family relationships to the detriment of the business and the family’s legacy.
