Transportation Connects Us
关于我们
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) was officially established in 1967 by combining formerly independent agencies and the Department of Motor Vehicles (which included the State Highway Commission, State Aeronautics Commission and State Patrol). WisDOT supports all forms of transportation. The department is responsible for planning, building and maintaining Wisconsin's network of state highways and Interstate highway system. The department shares the costs of building and operating county and local transportation systems - from highways to public transit and other modes. WisDOT plans, promotes and financially supports statewide air, rail and water transportation, as well as bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The department works closely with other state, federal and local agencies to meet changing and growing travel needs. Transportation impacts everyone and WisDOT is committed to providing the safest, most efficient and highest quality transportation services to best serve the needs of the state, its citizens and many visitors. The department is made up of three executive offices and six divisions organized according to transportation function. WisDOT's main office is located in Madison, but the department maintains regional offices throughout the state as a way to preserve the local approach to transportation development and better serve customer needs.

The Wisconsin DMV recently implemented a new automated identity verification process to help protect consumers from potential fraud. The new safety feature is available on several DMV applications. The DMV’s eNotify program is another way to protect your information, as users can get account activity alerts and confirm transactions taking place on their DMV account. https://lnkd.in/g-KxYRCk #ConsumerProtectionWeek

DYK? I-43 in Milwaukee carries nearly 129,000 vehicles each day. A section of this critical interstate link was expanded last year to improve safety and efficiency. The project, between Capitol Drive and Hampton Avenue on I-43, widened the highway in each direction and built six new bridges, eight retaining walls, four noise barriers, a pedestrian box culvert and six sign structures. Crews overcame many challenges and carefully managed interim traffic patterns to ensure motorist safety during construction. The project recently won the Large Contract award at WisDOT’s 2024 Excellence in Construction Awards.

Complete OSHA 10 ? Pass the CDL written exam ? Pass the apprenticeship test in a skilled trade ? Obtain flagger certification ? CPR/First Aid There are classes throughout Wisconsin that create a pipeline of talent. Contact an HCST provider to learn how you can find an HCST graduate in your area: https://lnkd.in/gFGgN97H

DYK? Over 2.9 million Wisconsin drivers and ID holders have committed to becoming organ donors. One donor can save eight lives through organ donation, restore sight to two people through cornea donation and heal more than 75 people through tissue donation.
