This is a very prestigious recognition from EXHIBITOR Magazine and we couldn't be more proud. For the next four days, we have converted 175k SQ FT of Baird Center's recently expanded Exhibit Hall into dozens of pickleball courts as we host the PPA Tour for the Veolia Milwaukee Open. Recently Brian Rutkowski and Damon M. from the WCD senior leadership team took time out of their busy schedules to meet with students from Milwaukee School of Engineering to tour Baird Center and discuss the exciting engineering and design features of the expansion. The $456m project presented many challenges that went beyond the typical commercial construction project, including how to merge an existing space with a new space to provide a seamless attendee and client experience.? Going beyond the great features that all attendees get to enjoy, the students got to explore deeper into the venue to learn about the state-of-the-art technology that powers the electrical and mechanical spaces, discuss the structural demands and features of the rooftop Baird Sky View Terrace and the green science integrated into the central utility plant. It has only been a few months since we opened the doors on the expansion and the Baird Ballroom has already become interwoven into the fabric of our community as the site of dozens of non-profit galas and fundraisers. This weekend we hosted the Black and White Ball, with our own Marty Brooks giving a video salute to the Greater Milwaukee Urban League, an organization that holds a special place in his heart. #empowerment #equity #community It was a special night of for the the attendees and the people working to keep Milwaukee a city on the move.
