In 2013, a group of outstanding women from Southern California construction companies and related fields joined together to start a group geared towards mentoring women working in the operation side of construction. This group spans across several general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and includes owner’s reps and the CM branch as well. We call it Women in Construction Operations, or WiOPS . The board members have met throughout the year to set up events that will support the goals and mission of this group.

As Western’s first female foreman, Connie is paving the way for future generations of women in the trades. With 11 years of experience, she thrives on overcoming challenges, changing perceptions, and proving that women can and do excel in the field. ? "I enjoy changing minds of those who think women can’t." ? From starting in retail with limited opportunities to finding a fulfilling career in construction, Connie is passionate about showing others—especially young women—that this path is possible, rewarding, and worth the hard work. Her advice? "Be patient, never stop learning, and ask questions." And the ultimate reward? Hearing her kids say, ‘Mom built that!’ ?????
