In 2013, a group of outstanding women from Southern California construction companies and related fields joined together to start a group geared towards mentoring women working in the operation side of construction. This group spans across several general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and includes owner’s reps and the CM branch as well. We call it Women in Construction Operations, or WiOPS . The board members have met throughout the year to set up events that will support the goals and mission of this group.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our October event, hosted by ACCO Engineered Systems! ?? It was an amazing day filled with hands-on learning, networking, and great conversations. One of the highlights was the interactive activity where attendees had the chance to work with ductwork and piping—learning by doing was definitely a crowd favorite! ??? Many members shared how much they appreciated the opportunity to better understand the challenges and time commitments involved in mechanical work. Comments like, “Now I understand why the mechanical sub was telling me how much time it takes,” reflect the value of these practical experiences.
