Great day for the future of affordable housing in West Virginia! Winterwood is a proud partner on this exciting project which will bring affordable housing to seniors in the area! #affordablehousing
Yesterday was a great day for Huntington and for the future of affordable housing in West Virginia. The Fund joined Cornerstone Community Development Corporation, Winterwood Inc, CVS Health, Aetna, a CVS Health Company, Marshall University, and several other groups and organizations to break ground on the Prichard Hotel Renovation Project. When complete, this $50 million renovation of the historic Prichard Hotel in downtown Huntington will result in 108 affordable rental housing units for seniors. The first two floors will house health care and other community services, meaning seniors won't have to leave their building to see a doctor or fill a prescription. As West Virginia's population continues to age, it makes sense to marry affordable housing and quality health care. We are grateful to play a part in this unique project that we hope will serve as a template for future senior housing across the state.

The Prichard Hotel Building Renovation Project is a huge step forward in providing affordable housing opportunities for Huntington-area seniors. This mixed-use development will not only house more than 100 seniors, but also provide them with direct access to health care and other services right in their own building. This expansive project is a testament to the strength of partnerships. With more than 20 groups and organizations involved, there was a lot of hard work behind the scenes to bring this development to fruition. The West Virginia Housing Development Fund contributed nearly $3.8 million in permanent financing through our HOME Investment Partnerships Program and National Housing Trust Fund Program, as well as Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds of up to $27 million which will be used during the construction phase.?Additionally, $16.8 million in equity will be generated from Low-Income Housing Tax Credits allocated by the Fund. The Prichard is a great example of taking something old and making it new and useful again. We thank all our partners, including Winterwood Inc., for their work and vision on this project and for investing in affordable housing for West Virginia seniors.??
