Jaylin Sprout, a program associate with Winrock’s U.S. Programs team, celebrated with Mayor Jeff Owyoung as the City of McGehee, Arkansas, was awarded a state grant to improve a local park. Through the?Arkansas Delta Rhythm and Bayous Placemaking Initiative?project, Jaylin provided the grant writing support McGehee needed for a successful application.?? ? The City of McGehee was one of 23 communities in Arkansas to receive an Outdoor Recreation Grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism in 2025. McGehee received $125,000 toward a $250,000 project to improve the McGehee Recreational Complex. Work will begin this summer on upgrading lighting for baseball fields, installing new playground equipment and building a pavilion.?? ? Winrock’s technical assistance in asset development and grant writing has now resulted in SIX Arkansas cities ? Camden, Lewisville, Stuttgart, England, Arkansas City, and now, McGehee ? securing over $800,000 in combined state and private-sector funds to improve local parks. Parks are critical placemaking assets in rural communities that improve the quality of life for all residents. This work is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to support businesses, create jobs, and boost local economies by making communities more attractive to investors and residents, combatting population decline, and fostering public-private partnerships. ? Olga DiPretoro, technical advisor with Winrock International’s Counter-Trafficking in Persons team, will attend the 2025?Alliance Against Trafficking in Persons Conference?– an annual gathering of key stakeholders from across the OSCE region aiming to raise the political profile of the fight against trafficking in human beings and discuss emerging topics and trends in this area.? ? “This year’s conference focuses on ending child trafficking. Winrock has previously supported governmental and civil society partners from Central Asia to attend, raise their voices and concerns, and make connections for collaboration and more effective responses. In 2024, Winrock supported Anastasiya Khmeleva, consultant and expert by experience, to attend and share her perspectives at this important forum. This is year, I hope we can contribute to the conversation on the changing landscape and methods of child trafficking and fostering a ‘whole society’ approach to combatting it effectively.” –Olga DiPretoro

Winrock International works to counter trafficking-in-persons by engaging survivors, communities, civil society organizations, governments and the private sector to address systemic gaps that enable trafficking to persist. Winrock works at the community level to shift behaviors and attitudes and increase detection of TIP; connect survivors and at-risk individuals to quality services; reinforce systems for trauma-informed response from identification through reintegration; hold traffickers accountable by strengthening the justice system’s ability to investigate and prosecute TIP; and collect and use data and evidence for policy advocacy and program implementation. Each system includes: ?? 80 Wp Solar PV Module ??51 AH Battery ??Charge Controller ??2 Lamps (3 Wp) & 4 Lamps (4 Wp) These solar home systems bring more than just electricity—they bring hope, opportunity, and a better quality of life: ??Light after dark – Children can study at night, and families feel safer. ??Reduced dependence on fossil fuel – A cleaner, healthier alternative for lighting. ??Improved daily life – Access to electricity means better communication, productivity, and convenience. ??Sustainable development – Utilizing clean energy supports Nepal’s renewable energy goals. (NYSE: ICE), a leading global provider of technology and data, will launch a state-of-the-art environmental registry technology service called ICE GreenTrace? in late 2025, designed to support registries and registry users across the life cycle of a carbon credit. Launch partner, Winrock International’s Environmental Resources Trust (ERT), will use ICE’s registry technology service for its world-leading crediting programs: ACR, the Architecture for REDD+ Transactions (ART) and the new sectoral crediting standard in development for the Energy Transition Accelerator (ETA).
