?? ???????? ???????????? ?????????? #2: Where We Serve We started a recent in-person WINGS presentation with the location slide below. Why? Why talk about the ?????????? even before we talk about the ???????? and the ??????? The reason is simple: if you understand the ??????????, you understand the heart of WINGS. We don’t ask women to come to us; we go to them, right where they are. That means that we hold our weekly classes at in-patient recovery facilities for women fighting addiction, in safe homes for survivors of human trafficking, in jails for women currently completing their sentences, and at transitional homes where women are preparing to rejoin their families and communities and begin the next chapter of their lives. We’ve done so from the very beginning, when our founder, Kate, developed and taught a work-readiness and life skills program in the Harris County Jail. We take the same approach with our foster care pilot program for girls: our volunteers bring the class to the facility in which the girls live. As one woman at our Jacquelyn House facility recently shared, “When we get to Jac House, some of us feel like we’ve lost everything…our jobs, our family. We don’t have anyone here with us. It can feel hopeless…And then, these ladies from WINGS come in and every week, they bring us hope and tell us that we matter. That we have a future. That God loves us. This week, Irma and Brandie attended a lovely luncheon with our friends at the Rotary Club of Lake Houston Area. With deep appreciation, we thank Pam McNair and the Rotary Club for coming alongside WINGS with a grant toward our 2025 Hope and a Future Scholarship Program. These scholarships allow our graduates to pursue further education and skills-training as they step into the next chapter of their lives. We may award these scholarships to individual women, but each woman who takes steps to transform her own life also affects the lives of her family, her work force, and her community, so the effects of your grant create ripples of positive change everywhere.
