A common carrier is a person or a commercial enterprise that transports passengers or goods for a fee and establishes that their service is open to the general public. Typical examples of common carriers include, bus companies, railroad, airline, taxi service, etc. What does this mean? As a passenger, if something were to happen such as an attack, assault, or as we so often hear, a rape; the passenger has zero recourse against the rideshare company or driver because they are currently exempt from being classified as a Common Carrier! ?
