We had a great time exhibiting at the 2025 Value of Biogas East Conference last week – leading discussions on how fertilizer is changing the #biogas industry. Our CEO, Josh Silverman, expanded the conversation with a session on how methane-to-fertilizer technology unlocks biogas monetization as a lower CAPEX alternative to RNG or electricity. ? Here are some of the key takeaways from the event: ?? Every project developer we met faces the same challenge — what to do with digestate. Windfall Bio can turn that waste into a high-value fertilizer, solving a costly problem and creating new revenue. ?? Many farmers flare biogas or miss out on RNG altogether. Windfall Bio offers them a new path — turning waste methane into fertilizer they can use or sell, improving farm economics and sustainability. ?? Before Windfall Bio, biogas producers had two options: power generation or RNG. We’re creating a third — fertilizer production — turning methane into a valuable product for farmers and communities. ? Thank you to everyone who stopped by and joined the conversation! Canadian Biogas Association

Naturally transforming harmful methane into organic fertilizer using the power of microbes.
关于我们
Windfall Bio has developed the first-ever solution to capture and transform climate-harming methane emissions into organic fertilizer. This nature-based solution harnesses methane-eating microbes to transform methane from any source into valuable outputs. The company’s solution allows methane emitters across industries, such as agriculture, oil and gas, and waste management, to reduce their carbon footprint, as well as enables farmers to improve their profitability and environmental impact.

Windfall Bio was just named to Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list – earning #6 under this year's Sustainability category! We are among a truly inspiring set of companies and proud of this accomplishment. ? This recognition?comes as our team continues to grow and address outsized #methane emissions using our nature-based solution that transforms methane from any source into valuable outputs. Over the last year, our mems have successfully achieved commercial-scale production, a critical OMRI certification (establishing a market for our organic fertilizer outputs), and we were recognized as one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2024. ? ?? I'm happy to share insights from the "Growing Solutions: U.S.-Japan Agri-Tech Innovations for a Carbon Neutral Future" event held in San Francisco. This event brought together industry leaders and innovators to explore how sustainable agricultural technologies can drive both economic growth and environmental resilience. Key takeaways include: [Leadership & Policy] Robert Rivas and Maria Onorato highlighted California’s agricultural might—a $50 billion industry that not only ensures food security globally but also leads in sustainability via collaborative research, innovative practices, and robust policy frameworks like the “California Jobs First Economic Blueprint.” [Innovation & Research] Gabriel Youtsey from UC highlighted the critical need for AgTech innovation in facing challenges such as rising land and labor costs. From robotics and AI-powered insights to experimental techniques like almond drying and steam-driven weeding, universities are bridging the gap between groundbreaking research and commercial application. [Venture Investments & Startup Ecosystem] SVG Ventures | THRIVE, which has invested more than $250 million in over 80 agri-food startups, highlighted about initiatives such as the Pioneer Fund for early-stage investments and the recent $50 million partnership with Kagome, as well as programs such as Harvest Horizons with JETRO and the Global Impact Summit to promote innovation and sustainable growth across borders. [Collaborative Partnerships] The panel discussion, featuring leaders from Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support, Norinchukin Bank, Kagome Co., Ltd., and Kubota Corporation, highlighted how cross-border partnerships and the integration of startups into established ecosystems are essential. They underscored the importance of aligning strategic vision, sharing market insights, and creating supportive networks for innovation to thrive. [Startups] Windfall Bio, EarthOptics, Ac-Planta Inc., and 株式会社TOWING presented a variety of solutions aimed at reducing environmental impact and improving productivity, ranging from bio-stimulants that are resistant to high heat and drought to biochar that utilizes microorganisms. It’s inspiring to witness how U.S.-Japan partnerships are accelerating progress in sustainable agriculture. Marubeni Corporation operates an agricultural business in the United States centered on Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC and MacroSource LLC, and will continue to monitor trends in this field.
Our consulate general of Japan hosted Agritech seminar on March 10 in SF. About 130 attendees joined. Thanks again for Maria Onorato from GO-Biz, Gabriel Youtsey from UCANR, John Hartnett from SVG Ventures, Masayuki Kimura from Deloitte Tohmatsu Ventures, Hiro Ueda from Kagome, Akiko Kawai from Kubota, Kenichi Katsuhara from Norinchukin Bank, David Yocom from EarthOptics, Josh Silverman from Windfall Bio, Koichiro Tachibana from Ac-Planta, Shogo Okishio from TOWING, and MC Richard (Rickie) Koo from DNX Venture Partners!
