Winchester Hospital is proud to announce that our vascular team performed its first Transcarotid Artery Revascularization procedure (TCAR). TCAR is a minimally invasive procedure that can clear blockages and open narrowed carotid artery. During the procedure, the surgeon makes an incision over the common carotid artery to perform the repair and the surgical team reverses blood flow in the area of the blockage. Winchester Hospital has launched our 2024 Community Health Needs Assessment. We’re committed to hearing from all of our communities, with a specific focus on diverse ages and ethnicities as our region continues to evolve. Winchester Hospital is pleased to announce that we now offer patients CT heart scans to measure the amount of calcium in the heart’s arteries. This is a low-radiation exam that can be performed on anyone but is especially recommended for patients who may be at an increased risk for heart disease. The NAPBC focuses on the spectrum of a patient’s journey with breast cancer or breast disease, including prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship. By setting high standards, NAPBC accreditation guides breast centers in providing comprehensive breast care based on scientific evidence. “I am proud of our team for achieving this accreditation and for maintaining it for the past 15 years,” said Kelley Cornell, MD, associate director, Winchester Hospital Breast Care Center. “We provide our patients with the best possible care using state-of-the-art technology, while also providing a caring and compassionate experience in a community hospital. Yesterday we invited our community partner INspire Cafe to staff our Ice Cream Social for employees at the hospital and at our off-site locations. INspire Cafe is a nonprofit partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Stoneham and Wakefield whose mission is to create inclusive and empowering employment opportunities for individuals with diverse abilities. Everyone had a great day and enjoyed the INspire Cafe team's excellent service and smiles. ????
