#CTA SAGA CONTINUES: As expected, in light of the SCOTUS ruling in #TexasTopCopShop, the US District Court in the Eastern District of Texas has lifted its injunction (in the case of Smith v. U.S. Department of the Treasury) on enforcement of the #CorporateTransparencyAct. I just checked fincen.gov/boi, and no update yet. Maybe there will be one by the time you see this post. You can follow the link here to check. I am also following HR736 (now S505), working through Congress which would require companies formed or registered BEFORE January 1, 2024, to submit the required #BOI report to FinCEN by January 1, 2026, instead of by January 1, 2025,?as required under current regulations. That is the limit of the scope of this legislation, however-so if your company was formed on or after 1/1/2024, or if your company (regardless of when formed) has already submitted its #BOIR, this legislation does not impact you and you should stay tuned for further guidance from #FinCEN, which is widely expected to offer a 30-day reprieve in light of the activity in the courts.
