This February, we're shining a spotlight on the incredible work engineers do to shape our community! Our very own Cathy Leong and Michelle Agustin Lindsey had the amazing opportunity to present to Middle School students at Mid-Pacific, explaining what engineering is, what engineers do, how to become an engineer and introducing the exciting world of transportation engineering! Wilson Okamoto Corporation is partnering with Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company on the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation's Puunene Roadway Improvements, Wakea Avenue to Kuihelani Highway project. ?The Groundbreaking Ceremony was conducted on November 12, 2024.?In attendance were HDOT Director Ed Sniffen; State Officials Justin Woodson and Troy Hashimoto; County of Maui Officials Alice Lee, Tasha Kama and Jordan Molina; Len Dempsey, HDCC; and Tanner Cho, WOC. The project is intended to increase roadway capacity to reduce traffic congestion and provide safety enhancements, including street lighting, sidewalks, and multi-use shoulders along this corridor.
