Exciting news! WETA is inching closer to SF Bay Ferry’s first electric ferries, with anticipated service from Treasure Island and Mission Bay to Downtown San Francisco - expected to begin in 2026. Three 150-passenger battery-electric ferries are aimed at maximizing transit ridership and the experience itself. San Francisco Chronicle breaks the news! Bay FC has signed a letter of intent to build an 8.5 acre training facility on Treasure Island, expanding the island’s long standing role as a center of sports and recreation. The Bay Area’s National Women’s Soccer League franchise plans to build a 20,000-square-foot clubhouse and three practice fields, breaking ground in 2025 to operate from the facility in time for the 2027 season. A new soccer destination for San Francisco, Treasure Island’s redevelopment will include 40 acres of sports fields, including a home for the San Francisco Glens minor-league soccer club and 90 other teams.
