In preparation for our upcoming Giddy Up Gala on Friday, March 28, an event for our clients, Marissa Robertson, our Quality Assurance Coordinator, hosted a series of Cowboy Hat Painting activities where clients could design and create a fabulous hat to wear to the gala. Creativity is such a powerful way for our clients to express themselves and boost their confidence. Just ask AC, who said, “I painted my hat pink and red to match my outfit. I’m so excited to wear it!” We can't wait to see everyone rocking their hats at the gala. #findingourway #willowsway

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is in full swing at Willows Way. We sported orange to show our support for individuals with developmental disabilities. Orange symbolizes energy and positivity, two fundamental characteristics we stand by at Willows Way. #willowsway

Realities program clients had a blast celebrating St. Patrick's Day. To make the event extra special, our staff transformed the room into a sea of green, with shamrocks and gold coins adorning every surface. Clients gathered around tables draped in green tablecloths, working on word searches, while Danielle read the history of the day. The laughter echoed through the halls, reinforcing the sense of community. When asked how they felt about the event, Carrie was quick to tell us why it meant so much to her, "Since losing my mom, it's hard for me to get out of my home. I look forward to events like these when I can get together with my friends." The smiles and camaraderie shared on this special day left an imprint on everyone's hearts, reminding them of the importance of connection and celebration, no matter the occasion. #findingourway #willowsway

Recently, our program manager, Amber, organized a night at Disney on Ice for a group of our program participants. Among the incredible performances, Moana and Frozen were the clear favorites. Attending events like Disney on Ice allows our participants to connect with art in a new way. One participant was so moved by a song from Frozen that it brought them to tears. The evening was filled with singing, dancing, and smiles from start to finish. #findingourway #willowsway

When we asked Tom about his favorite aspects of living alone, he responded, "I enjoy watching Netflix in my free time and working out in the gym at my new apartment. I also like going to the movie theater to see new releases with my family." Tom's independence allows him to spend time on activities he enjoys most. Our Individual Supported Living Assistance program provides an individualized plan for each person, ensuring they receive the support they need to make the most of their experience. #willowsway #findingourway

Meet Joe. Joe is one of the many individuals who have benefited from our Individualized Supported Living Assistance Program. When we asked him how our support has impacted his life, he shared several of his successes, including living independently and managing his finances. Our journey with Joe doesn’t stop there! Join us in welcoming Don Foster to our team! Don, our new COO, joins us with over twenty years of experience in healthcare leadership, including sixteen years working with the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. He brings knowledge and a strong passion for helping individuals reach their full potential by living life beyond limits. When we asked Don how he felt about joining the team, he said, "I am excited to be part of Willows Way because I believe in what we do—helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live more independent and fulfilling lives. It's meaningful work, and I love being part of a team that truly makes a difference for our clients and their families every day. I have been here a month, and everyone has been so open and welcoming. I have already met quite a few clients and seen and heard the difference we make in their lives. #findingourway #willowsway

Making new friends can be intimidating! For many of our clients, forming friendships is a challenge. To help them overcome these obstacles, our team organizes activities designed to create environments that encourage conversation and bonding. This month, our Uno and coloring event provided a perfect opportunity for connection, where conversations flowed as freely as colors on paper. The room was filled with laughter as the first round of Uno began. From intricate mandalas to simple cartoon characters, each stroke of the pencil sparked discussions about favorite colors, beloved pets, and cherished memories. As the night progressed, participants moved between the games and the art tables, fostering a palpable sense of community. Those who arrived feeling shy and reserved left with new friendships and smiles on their faces. Through these gatherings, we are able to highlight the importance of socialization but also demonstrate how meaningful connections can be cultivated. The event reminded everyone that, at the heart of it all, connections are what make a community a vibrant and loving place to be.
