At De Vere, we’re proud to continue making a difference! This year, we’re once again committing to 2,000 volunteering hours, supporting the communities that mean so much to us. ? Our teams across the UK were busy in February as we launched De Vere's week of volunteering. Our colleagues rolled up their sleeves and got involved in various meaningful projects, which included providing support to Willow, Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service, Daisy's Dream, Wycombe Homeless Connection, Battersea and Bristol Zoological Society. ? An impressive total of 616 hours were volunteered across the week allowing our teams to connect with local organisations close to their hearts. ? Thanks to the incredible support of Pink Ribbon Foundation we’re able to create special moments for people like Chrissie, who is living with secondary breast cancer. Chrissie, 37, was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in October 2023 after discovering a small lump. She underwent intensive chemotherapy, surgery, and radiotherapy, but later learned the cancer had spread to her brain. In September 2024, she was given a prognosis of 12 months. "I am a great believer that if I can't change the outcome or end, I make the best of what I can. Spending time with my friends and family has been precious. I got the opportunity to enjoy a spa day with my mum and sister, an experience I won’t forget. It was just a perfect day that I would not have been able to experience without Willow. I will forever be grateful." The Pink Ribbon Foundation is dedicated to funding projects and supporting UK charities that help those affected by secondary breast cancer. It's an absolute honour to have been asked to create this portrait of Cole and to have been able to auction a signed reproduction in support of The Willow Foundation ?? 3 weeks of work using graphite, charcoal and coloured pencils for 1 worthy cause ?? This Rare Disease Day, we’re proud to highlight the incredible support of our partner Alexion Charitable Foundation. As a 2025 grantee partner of the Alexion Charitable Foundation’s Rare Belonging? programme, their funding will support special experiences for 16 to 40-year-olds living with rare diseases and rare cancers across the UK. These experiences allow individuals and their families to take a break from the daily challenges of living with a life-threatening condition and give them time to create lasting memories with their loved ones. Rare Disease Day is a time to raise awareness and show support for the millions of people living with rare conditions. At Willow, we’re proud to work with Demelza’s Transition team, who support young people aged 14-25 with life-limiting conditions such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, quadriplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy and various cancers. Through our partnership, we provide Special Days and treat boxes, creating moments of joy and meaningful experiences for young adults living with rare diseases. Claire, a Transition Navigator at Demelza, shared: “We referred one of our patients to Willow for a treat box on her 18th birthday. When it was granted, her mum rang me in tears (of joy), so grateful to give her daughter something fully accessible and all about her. Another young lady was granted a Special Day at Bubble Planet in London. As someone who loves bright colours, music and textures, it was perfect for her. She didn’t stop smiling and laughing the whole time! The days out that Willow has provided for these young people means they can access opportunities that they would not normally be able to, make amazing memories with their families and be included the same as everyone else.
