Williams Steel Erection Co., Inc. recently stored and then transported three generators from our yard in Manassas, Virginia to a nearby Data Center using our Goldhofer Transport Technology trailer and one of our Prime Movers.

Williams Steel Erection Co., Inc. is currently erecting the structural steel on the WMATA Northern Bus Garage for Owen Steel Company Inc. and Clark Construction Group. When the job is complete, the team will have erected approximately 10,000 tons of steel.

Our dedicated rigging team helps keep the lights on throughout the DC region. One of the services we provide our utility customers is emergency replacement, and when this substation needed a new transformer we were onsite to place the unit. Thanks to our incredible staff for making rapid response work like this possible!

Did you know that concrete buildings often include structural steel? Check out this interstitial floor we installed in the The National Institutes of Health Vaccine Research Center expansion for Kinsley Steel. Interstitial floors are often used in medical buildings to make it easier to perform repairs and make alterations throughout the building's lifecycle.

The Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge spans I-295 and allows residents of Southeast DC to safely cross the busy roadway. Working with Fort Myer Construction Corporation and District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Williams Steel is replacing the outdated bridge with 8 new steel spans and accessible entry points. The most difficult pick, over all lanes of traffic with only one full road closure allowed per hour, used two Goldhofer Transport Technology THPs to move the bridge into the roadway, then two more to place it under the Williams Construction Services Liebherr LTM 1250 so installation only required one pick. Congrats to the entire crew on a job done well and safely!

The W&OD Trail is getting a facelift at its intersection with Wiehle Avenue. Bikers and pedestrians will be able to cross over the busy road using a 147-foot pedestrian bridge starting in June. Earlier this month, our team partnered with Allan Myers Inc. and placed the span during an overnight road closure. Our rigging division specializes in complex, time-sensitive moves, like this unusual project at a local power plant. To move this transformer from one area of the plant to another, it was placed on our Goldhofer Transport Technology THPs and driven to the facility's train tracks, where it was slid and secured onto a specialized train car. The process was repeated when the transformer arrived at its destination. We pride ourselves on finding creative solutions to logistical challenges.

Best of luck to our summer intern Bridget Huffman as she starts the semester at James Madison University this week! Bridget spent the summer learning more about steel erection estimating and was able to visit local jobsites to gain hands-on experience.
