Fort Bliss community, we want to ensure that you are aware that as of Feb. 27, the CDC is reporting a total of 164 measles cases in nine different states, including specific regions in Texas and New Mexico. On Feb. 26, the first measles-related death was reported to have occurred in an unvaccinated school-age child in Lubbock, Texas. At this time, there have been no reported cases in our region. Measles is a highly contagious disease that can lead to serious complications, especially for babies and young children. With measles cases on the rise, this is a perfect time to ensure that you and your family are protected against this contagious disease. If you are concerned about exposure or would like to ensure that you and your loved ones are up to date on your vaccines, please contact your healthcare provider by secure message through the MHS Genesis Patient Portal or by calling our appointment line at 915-742-CARE (2273).
