Wilkinson Stekloff Associates?Dhruti Patel and Tania Martinez, with assistance from Counsel?Sarah Neuman, recently secured asylum for a pro bono client fleeing a lifetime of persecution based on his LGBTQ+ status in his home country of Colombia. The client’s mistreatment culminated in a brutal attack carried out by state actors in 2023 on account of the client’s sexual orientation. The client’s attackers continued to pursue him after the attack, even threatening to kill him. The firm has maintained a deep and lasting commitment to providing?pro bono representation. Since its 2016 founding, Wilkinson Stekloff has handled more than 100 pro bono matters, with the vast majority of its attorneys devoting significant time across areas including family law, immigration, post-conviction representation, appeals, and filing amicus briefs. https://lnkd.in/gTPZkbyz

Wilkinson Stekloff is pleased to welcome back?Aliyah Graves-Brown?to the firm?as an associate. Aliyah was a summer associate at Wilkinson Stekloff, during which time she worked on two trials. She attended?Harvard Law School, where she served as a student attorney at?Harvard Defenders?and the Criminal Justice Institute, representing indigent adults charged with misdemeanor and felony charges. Aliyah is also a trained mediator through the?Harvard Mediation Program. Upon graduation, she was recognized by the University for performing over 1,000 hours of pro bono service. Before law school, Aliyah worked as the program manager for the?Georgetown Prisons and Justice Initiative. She received her B.A. in government from?Georgetown University, where she played varsity field hockey.
