John Lin, professor of atmospheric sciences and Wilkes Center Associate Director, recently co-authored a study in collaboration with University of California scientists, that shows carbon monoxide emissions, or CO—on LA freeways, actually improved while CO emissions on Utah freeways worsened. This year’s Climate Solutions Hackathon was a HUGE success, with 17 solution proposals submitted from nearly 90 grads and undergrads participating from across campus. This year, the Wilkes Center coordinated with the Office for Global Engagement to bring a contingent of graduate students from the Université C?te d’Azur in Nice, France, to join forces with U team members, making for impressive international collaborations. https://lnkd.in/gCPsTnQr #hackathon #climatesolutions

Thanks to all the students and staff who made this year’s Wilkes Center Climate Solutions Hackathon a massive success! This year 17 teams presented their solutions on Saturday to cap the 24-hour intensive problem solving competition. What’s more, five students and two faculty from Université C?te d'Azur, in Nice, France, traveled to Salt Lake City to join over 80 U of U students, which made the event all the more fantastic and global.
