Our Elephant Crisis Fund has been named one of the most successful elephant conservation projects! The Elephant Crisis Fund is a collaborative creation led jointly by WCN and Save the Elephants, with 100% of donations going directly to on-the-ground conservation initiatives. Working alongside them continues to be an honor, and a source of inspiration and hope for the future of elephants. https://hubs.ly/Q02YjBy60

WCN protects endangered wildlife by supporting conservationists who ensure wildlife and people co-exist and thrive.
关于我们
Founded in 2002, Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) is dedicated to protecting endangered species and preserving their natural habitats. We support innovative strategies for people and wildlife to co-exist and thrive. We partner with independent, community-based conservationists around the world and provide them with the capital and tools they need to develop solutions for human-wildlife coexistence. WCN's conservationists actively engage local people as effective stewards of their environment and work in a culturally-respectful manner to ensure that conservation skills and values will be passed on to future generations.

We're proud to be supporting Fauna & Flora in this initiative through our Lion Recovery Fund and Elephant Crisis Fund ??
Bringing #PeaceWithNature to a conflict-affected country. Since 2011, Fauna & Flora has been working with South Sudan’s Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism, encompassing the National Wildlife Service, and local communities to restore and protect wildlife after decades of conflict in the country. By engaging community members as local ambassadors for conservation, and helping to improve livelihoods, we are building trust among the people living closest to the species and habitats we aim to protect, uniting everyone behind a shared conservation goal. From forest elephants to chimpanzees, South Sudan is a country rich in biodiversity. To help nature flourish, it’s essential that local voices are central to conservation efforts. ?? Learn more about the vital work we’re doing in South Sudan to safeguard wildlife and foster lasting relationships with the communities closest to it: https://lnkd.in/gxCp2nhY Special thanks to The Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation, Arcadia, Elephant Crisis Fund, Nationale Postcode Loterij, Bucknell University, Lion Recovery Fund, Darwin initiative, the DEFRA IWT Challenge Fund and Rainforest Trust. #PeaceWithNature #Cop16 #SouthSudan #Elephants #Conservation #Biodiversity #Wildlife #Nature #ProtectNature

Have you heard about Prop 4? Prop 4 would enable implementation of a wide variety of climate-related projects. This includes funds for land and water conservation, AND fund allocation for nature-based solutions to support habitat connectivity for wildlife. $180 million would be specifically allocated for wildlife corridors, helping to implement critical infrastructure like wildlife crossings! These investments align with our California Wildlife Program's mission to restore and connect fragmented habitats, benefiting pumas and countless other species. This is why WCN joined many other conservation organizations to back this measure. Supporting this initiative would change the game for wildlife connectivity across California???? ?? California Wildlife Reconnected is catalyzing wildlife crossing projects throughout the state. Helping restore ecosystems and allowing wildlife to thrive for generations to come. ???Please take a moment to view this fantastic video of the monumental initiative that involves a team of conservation experts who took an epic road trip across California featuring dedicated Caltrans teams. Caltrans Director?Tony Tavares?said, "Caltrans understands the delicate balance that must be struck between the movement of people and goods throughout our vast state and the movement of all fish and wildlife. The state highway connects us to various natural phenomena, such as the Sierra Nevada, the high desert, the coastal redwoods, and the Pacific Ocean. However, it can also create barriers for native species that live within those same places. That's why we are committed to researching, restoring, and renovating passageways throughout the state. We have already delivered more than 20 wildlife under-crossings, and we are investing in over-structures that assist larger animal populations. Caltrans engineers, planners, and scientists are working together every day to provide a safer, more equitable, and more sustainable transportation system for all animals that call?California?home." ??To learn more, visit: wildlifecrossingfund.org #Caltrans #CoExistence #WildlifeCrossings #SaveLaCougars #CaliforniaWildlifeReconnected Beth Pratt, Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom

It's that time of year when we have the enormous pleasure of catching up with alumni at various conservation gatherings around the world. Here are a few of our favorite moments from the last month (Yosemite, WCN Expo, AZA in Calgary, and Washington DC). “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” - Margaret Mead
