关于我们
For 30 years, WHC has been promoting and certifying ecological stewardship action on corporate lands through partnerships and education. Since only 10-15% of the world’s land surface is protected, private lands provide an essential opportunity for restoring and protecting biodiversity. As the only international conservation NGO focused exclusively on the private sector, WHC provides a framework for voluntary conservation action on a wide variety of corporate lands. WHC’s corporate members represent some of the leading national and multinational corporations seeking to support sustainable ecosystems and the communities that surround them. These efforts have resulted in more than 1,000 certified programs across 48 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and 29 countries. Our colleagues Erin Allegro and Patricia Billette were in #Chicago this week at the #PCF2024 making connections to further our work in expanding and enhancing urban and community #forestry programs.
Wrapping up two thought provoking days at Arbor Day Foundation’s #PCF2024 conference! Wonderful trip to Chicago. Joined by my colleague, Patricia Billette, (WHC Sr. Manager Social Impact), we spent two days making connections and discussing everything from urban and community forestry policy, citizen engagement, workforce development, new emerging tools and so much more. I am excited to bring back the lessons learned to my team at Wildlife Habitat Council and World Environment Center. There is much work to be done in local communities around the world to alleviate injustice both environmental and social, but as I leave today, the words from Nadina Galle resonate with me. Sharing a deeper understanding of expanding our toolkits and highlighting the benefit of partnering with organizations like Arbor Day Foundation, leveraging the latest tools from Itree, and PlanIT Geo?, LiDAR, and more. All the speakers over the last two days were amazing. I left each session with new information, new connections, and excitement to hear about the fantastic work that has been done across our nation. Last, I wanted to give a special thanks to Dan Lambe as your introduction and closing were short, sweet, and meaningful. I too ‘BELIEVE’ that we can achieve great things through nature based solutions, expanding our tool kits, and making more connection through community. Thanks for having me and thanks for holding the elevator! Photos below from CommuniTree’s session. Wildlife Habitat Council is glad to support the CommuniTree mission throughout NW IN. Plus, I couldn’t resist a picture of the beautiful Palmer House A Hilton Hotel Lobby. A beautiful venue for a great conference. I can always count on the tree community for an inclusive and wonderful event.

WHC’s Daniel Goldfarb teamed up with Carmeuse Lime Operations to plant black/jack pine savanna in support of the USDA Forest Service Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, which restores Lake Michigan’s shoreline one tree at a time. This project is one of many seeking to increase micro forests in urban/industrial areas, boosting biodiversity and fighting the climate change crisis.
Great working with employees at Carmeuse Lime Operations in Gary, Indiana last week, planting and restoring black oak / jack pine savanna on Lake Michigan shoreline! Thanks to the USDA Forest Service Great Lakes Restoration Initiative for your support of Wildlife Habitat Council community forestry & habitat restoration of urban and industrial communities in the Great Lakes. ?? Thrilled to be at the T20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro #T20Brasil in the context of the #G20Brazil representing Wildlife Habitat Council. This momentous event gathers thought leaders and policymakers dedicated to addressing our world’s most pressing challenges. Today, we heard inspiring words from former President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, reminding us that "We can’t give up; we must continue together." She emphasized the importance of shaping a more inclusive and just global system, highlighting that supporting women’s organizations is not just a moral imperative—it’s a prerequisite for sustainable development. I am proud to have co-authored a T20 Policy Brief on 'Debt-for-Nature/Climate Swaps' for Effective Climate and Biodiversity Action in Developing Countries together with Beatriz Nofal. https://lnkd.in/dBMzFeSk Let’s take this opportunity to work together to ensure global goals are achieved. Supporting inclusivity and innovation is not just smart—it’s essential for a better future for all! #T20Summit #WHC #BusinessandNature #G20Brazil #WomenEmpowerment #SDGs
