Join us at 11 a.m. MT Wednesday, Oct. 30 in a webinar that breaks down State Wildlife Action Plans (SWAPs) and how you can use them to support wildlife reforms in your state. Every 10 years, SWAPs offer a rare opportunity to shape proactive conservation strategies for species in decline. You can make a difference in shaping your state’s wildlife priorities. Diverse voices matter in this process, and we need everyone to join in your state's process. Sign up today to save your spot! https://lnkd.in/gVNkQt4Q P.S. It's #BatAppreciationMonth so make sure you include our often-maligned, winged neighbors in your advocacy! Spotted Bat image courtesy of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

Hi everyone! You met Mandy in our last post, so we’d like to introduce the rest of our team. Let’s start with our Senior Advisor, Kevin Bixby. Kevin holds a BS in Biology from Dartmouth College and an MS in Natural Resources Policy from the University of Michigan. After years of working for wildlife, he saw that as long as decisions about wildlife were made by those who saw animals as mere resources, conservation efforts would only ever be about damage control. To address this, he started Wildlife for All to push for a more ecologically-driven, democratic, and compassionate approach to state wildlife management.

Earlier this month our Executive Director, Michelle Lute, gave a presentation on wildlife management in New Mexico. Did you know only a few species receive federal protection in New Mexico? State attention is largely focused on game species. With a global crisis seeing a dramatic decline of two-thirds in vertebrate species since 1970, it's clear that traditional wildlife management approaches are outdated. These agencies, funded by hunting and fishing fees often overlook the broader needs of wildlife conservation. Michelle engaged with her audience by exploring new strategies and solutions to ensure all wildlife in New Mexico get the protection they deserve.?

Episode 11 of The Missing Stone Podcast is out now! This week I was excited to speak with Dr. Michelle Lute, Vice President of the Board of the Rewilding Institute and Co-Executive Director of Wildlife For All. I was fascinated to talk with Michelle, discussing how growing up on a farm led her into a career advocating for wildlife, and the many research projects and advocacy campaigns that helped shape her work today. Michelle discusses the goals of Wildlife for All and the work they are doing to change wildlife management at the state level. We then dive into current events, primarily the reintroduction of wolves in Colorado.
