?? Embracing Failure in Conservation ?? ?? Everyone likes to talk about success, but for improving the practice of conservation, understanding how and why interventions fail is often more useful than understanding why they succeed. Do you agree? Join the discussion here ?? https://lnkd.in/e89TZ_vf

关于我们
We are an international community of conservation professionals. We provide a space to exchange ideas, create new solutions, and make new partnerships to enable better, faster, and cheaper conservation that helps save more wildlife. We are a non-hierarchical friendly community of like-minded people, with similar values and different ideas. Our community is free to join and mainly for those currently working in the conservation sector, but it is open to anyone who feels that they can contribute in a meaningful way. Our community is member-led, meaning that members decide what to talk about, how to interact, and how to grow the community.

?? The beaver is back! ?? For the first time in over 400 years, nature's best engineers are finally allowed to legally roam freely across England. ?? ?? Hunted to extinction on mainland Britain for their fur, meat, and scent glands, beavers are now set to play a crucial role in ecosystem restoration. Beavers have the ability to create new habitats for a host of wildlife species and to deliver a range of benefits for people too. For instance, their instinctive dam-building can help reduce the impacts of flooding on farmland and in urban areas. ?? The return of beavers has been carefully planned over a long period of time. DEFRA ran a public beaver consultation three years ago showing overwhelming support for reintroducing this keystone species; changes to English law made them a native species in October 2022. ?? Help Us Build an Independent & Inclusive WildHub! ?? Five years ago, WildHub opened its virtual doors to provide a safe, inclusive space for conservation professionals worldwide. Today, we’ve grown into a global community of 5,000+ where all conservationists are welcomed and provided a free and life-long professional membership, whether they are still student, early-career or based in low-income countries, so that they can connect, share knowledge, and support each other without barriers. ?? As Muthoni Njuguna, Co-Founder at EcoHope Africa, beautifully put it: "As young African conservationists, we don’t have a lot of platforms where we can make a lot of noise about the work that we are doing, so I’m glad that I'm a WildHub member." Now, we’re taking the next big step: ?? Help us create an independent WildHub—a space where conservationists from all backgrounds, especially women and underrepresented voices, can connect, share knowledge, and thrive. ?? Join us & support our campaign: https://lnkd.in/e-dHkJQd Your support—whether through a donation or by sharing—can help us secure WildHub’s future and keep amplifying conservationists worldwide. Together, we can make conservation more accessible, inclusive, and impactful! ?? https://lnkd.in/efWnn2dk #SupportConservation #AmplifyVoices #WildHubCommunity #FutureOfWildHub A special welcome and shout out to our new members - let's make a lot of noise together! ?? ?? ?? Reptiles are highly emotional, contrary to their cold reputation ?? Reptiles have a reputation as cold, emotionless creatures. However scientists agree that reptiles aren’t emotionless — they’re misunderstood. ?? Extensive research has shown that reptiles experience a wide range of emotions, and that they’re highly socially complex animals. While they may not be outwardly expressive in the same way that humans or other mammals are, reptiles possess hidden inner depths and are indeed emotionally intelligent beings. ?? Scientists uncover sixth-sense in geckos ?? ??♀? An exciting new study by biologists at the University of Maryland, in the US, has revealed that geckos have a hidden superpower. ??The team found that these lizards use their inner ear not just for balance, but also to pick up low-frequency vibrations – a sensory ability that could rewrite what we know about animal hearing. ?? Abandoning Superfluity: The Power of Touch and Love for a Wasteless Tanzania ?? "Tanzania is a land of beauty, rich culture, and abundant natural resources. Yet, like many nations, Tanzania struggles with superfluity—having more than enough resources but failing to use them efficiently.
