?? California's Wildfire Resilience Strategy: 25 Key Deliverables for 2025 The Governor's Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force has released its ambitious deliverables for 2025, building on significant progress since our 2021 Action Plan. Our collaborative efforts have yielded impressive results: - Nearly $6 billion invested in forest health and wildfire resilience - Treatment of 700,000+ acres annually, including doubled prescribed fire usage - Streamlined project approvals through exemptions and CalVTP - Over $140 million invested in local and regional collaborative capacity For 2025, we're focusing on five critical areas: 1. Improving home and community wildfire resilience 2. Streamlining regulatory processes 3. Expanding landscape-scale resilience programs 4. Creating sustainable wood products markets and forest sector jobs 5. Building a science-based framework for measuring progress Our 25 key deliverables include accelerating defensible space rules, establishing a comprehensive fuel break network, expanding prescribed grazing, launching a beneficial fire training network, and developing a California Wildfire Data Hub. These efforts represent an unprecedented collaboration between federal, state, local, tribal, and private organizations to increase the pace and scale of wildfire resilience efforts in California. Historic Win for the Karuk Tribe: Restoring the Right to Cultural Burning ?? … The Karuk Tribe of Northern California has become the first in the state to secure an agreement with the California Natural Resources Agency and local air quality officials to restore their right to practice cultural burning. Cultural burning is a time-honored Indigenous practice that promotes forest health, reduces wildfire risks, and revitalizes ecosystems. …. Previously, tribes needed both a burn permit from California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and a smoke permit from local air districts to conduct these burns. Thanks to SB 310, this red tape has been removed, empowering tribal communities to reclaim and lead these vital practices. This agreement acknowledges the essential role of Indigenous stewardship in safeguarding California’s landscapes for future generations. … Read more in the Los Angeles Times: https://lat.ms/4bqw2yu … #WildfireTaskForce #TaskForceProgress #CulturalBurns #IndigenousKnowledge
