Expanding social media influence with record-breaking awareness and engagement on TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest. ? Awarding our largest-ever international partnership investments, bringing Wild Alaska Pollock to markets in Asia, Latin America, and Europe. From strategic partnerships with household names like Walmart and Arby's to new initiatives addressing key international concerns, 2024 was a year of balancing challenges and driving results. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued its final rule updating the criteria for using the “healthy” nutrient content claim on food packaging. This rule aims to help consumers identify foods foundational to healthy dietary patterns, aligning with current nutrition science and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Under the updated rule: Foods like seafood, eggs, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, and seeds automatically qualify as “healthy” without needing additional verification. Foods must meet limits for saturated fat, sodium, and added sugars while containing a required amount from at least one recommended food group, such as fruits, vegetables, or dairy. The FDA highlighted this as part of its broader effort to reduce diet-related chronic diseases and promote health equity. The new criteria may empower consumers and encourage manufacturers to reformulate products to meet “healthy” standards. This change is a significant win for seafood marketing in the U.S., and GAPP will explore how our members and partners can leverage this new rule to promote Wild Alaska Pollock.
