He discussed concept of Rogue RDP, which involves leveraging a malicious RDP server and an RDP relay to weaponize a common business application, manipulating unsuspecting victims into forwarding control over parts of their machine. As my LinkedIn feed fills up with posts from WWHF @ Mile High, I guess it’s my turn to describe it. This conference is like no other. Yes, every conference has something that makes it unique, but Black Hills Information Security has not only captured the essence of cybersecurity—it has created a community that feels like a big family reunion. It’s like meeting cousins, aunts and uncles you’ve only seen in pictures (online), yet when you’re there face to face, it feels like you’ve known them your whole life, as if no time has passed since you last saw each other. It was incredible to feel so welcomed, to feel like I truly belonged in the community, and to experience an environment where everyone is willing to help you level up and learn new skills. It was awesome to see my friends from DC407 win the black badge in the CTF competition. It was also amazing to be surrounded by so many red teamers and penetration testers—yet still manage to secure second place in the lock-picking competition, a skill I learned years ago but don’t practice daily. I will always treasure my local BSides conference because it’s more accessible for those starting in the industry. However, if you ever have the opportunity to experience a Wild West conference, you absolutely should—there aren’t enough words to express how cool and educational the experience was. Thank you all James McQuiggan Josh Mason ?? Joseph C. Justin G. Kimberly McKnight Deb Wigley Jason Blanchard Jason Haddix Eric Taylor Kathy Chambers Zach Hill Daniel Lowrie Velda Lempka Matt Lee, CISSP, CCSP, CFR, PNPT Edna J. Luke J. Luke Canfield Nick B. Fletus Poston III Fox Pick John Strand Alyson Van Stone, MBA ?? Jax S. Alison Walk Brett Jones Leonardo N. Mishaal Khan Ricky Lee John Hammond Lydia Roterdam Rocio Slobodzian Jeremiah Minner, M.S., SecurityX, CEH Ryan Coryell Cori Macy And many more that made this conference totally worth it.
