On Tuesday, our Executive Director, Susan Malone, and Outreach Manager, Jake Saltzberg, attended the Baltimore Together Summit. They heard from some of Maryland’s powerful leaders, such as Senator Chris Van Hollen, Mayor Brandon M. Scott, and Senator Bill Ferguson. They addressed topics that are important to our city and state, such as receiving funds for the Key Bridge, equitably growing the Baltimore economy, and making strategic economic investments to support the workforce and apprenticeships that will create more pathways to opportunities. Additionally, Susan Malone and?Jake Saltzberg participated in an interactive networking session led by Wide Angle Board member, Peter Metsopoulos. During the session, attendees generated innovative ideas about growing Baltimore’s economy equitably! They also screened the video profiles created by Wide Angle’s video production team that featured Brandon M. Scott, Brian D. Pieninck, and Elizabeth Clayborne, MD, MA.

It’s exciting to share an update of our new Studios with our board member Cory Yeboah and partners like the T. Rowe Price Foundation. Their belief—and the support of so many others—has been key to making this creative hub a reality.?We’re eager to kick off programs in December and start bringing this space to life!
A blank space presents both a challenge and an opportunity. And as I toured Wide Angle Youth Media’s new facility Wide Angle Studios at the Service Center with John B. and Stacey Van Horn today from the T. Rowe Price Foundation, my wheels were spinning imagining all the possibilities this opens up for not only the organization but the creative community in Baltimore. From the production studio to the media lab and the modular guest artist space, there is so much potential in these walls. When I joined the board of directors nearly two years ago I was drawn to the opportunity to serve an organization that was undergoing a transformation and executing a strategic plan focused on sustainable growth and expansion. The capital campaign to fund our new facilities had just begun. So, to be standing in the new studio after such a tumultuous week was surreal and a reminder of what really matters and keeps us sane at the end of the day. Our communities.

Lights, camera, NFL! ?? The NBCU Academy X National Football League (NFL) Experienceship came to Sunday's Denver Broncos vs. Baltimore Ravens game at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore! ? Torrey Smith shared this advice: “Treat people right, network and be fully engaged in whatever career path you choose.”
