Women own one-third of businesses worldwide, yet many still face barriers that hold them back. This week, we hosted an event on “Harnessing the power of the digital economy to empower women entrepreneurs” in Nairobi, Kenya, together with Microsoft and ITCILO as part of the Women in Digital Business programme. ? The Women in Digital Business Initiative (WIDB), a partnership between Microsoft, International Labour Organization (ILO), and ITCILO (the training arm of ILO) is dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs with essential digital and AI skills, especially in remote areas. This initiative helps bridge the gender gap in digital entrepreneurship, providing women the tools they need to start and grow businesses in today’s evolving economy.? ? Women entrepreneurs are vital drivers of economic growth, job creation, and community investment. Yet, they face substantial barriers—lack of access to education, financial resources, and digital skills. That’s why programs like WIDB are so crucial.
