Secretary Romanski travelled to S?o Paulo, Brazil last month and participated in a trade trip. While there, Sec. Romanski met with USDA Foreign Agricultural Service staff, Viva Lácteos, dairy plants, and other partners.?

The Wisconsin Agriculture Youth Council (WAYC) has begun its fifth year. During September’s virtual session, the members participated in a discussion with DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski and listened to a presentation about DATCP’s responsibilities. Alexa Heitkamp, a council member from Mindoro, shared that she learned about “the different departments of DATCP and how they all work together to create resources and opportunities for agriculturalists around the state.” The council will meet again in October. Yesterday, DATCP Assistant Deputy Secretary Mike Strigel, along with other representatives from Wisconsin’s agriculture industry, met with Doug McKalip, Chief Agricultural Negotiator in the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). During Ambassador McKalip’s visit, the group discussed Wisconsin’s dairy industry and continued access to Chile and other export markets for cheeses and meats with common names like Parmesan and brats.?Ambassador McKalip and Assistant Deputy Secretary Strigel also toured the BelGioioso plant in Pulaski and will tour Schuman Cheese in Turtle Lake on later this week.
