Thrilled to have attended the first virtual workshop (of this year) hosted by Women in Computer Science (WiCS FIU) ?? The "Web Accessibility Workshop" led by the amazing Fer Pacheco was incredibly enlightening. We dove into WCAG, A11Y, WAI-ARIA, and general guidelines on web accessibility. This workshop significantly boosted my web development skills by highlighting the importance of creating inclusive and accessible websites for everyone. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to be part of WiCS's inaugural virtual event. A huge thank you to Fer and the WiCS team for an inspiring and informative session! First hackathon done! ?? I recently participated in my first hackathon ever, and I’m excited to share that my teammates (Rebeca Serralta and Ali Muhammad Khowaja) and I won 1st place in BNY Mellon's Financial Challenge at ShellHacks 2024! Our team developed a fraud detection system, FraudGuard, that uses machine learning to flag potentially fraudulent transactions and display the data in detailed graphs. We utilized 6 million rows of synthetic data to build and train our model, using algorithms like Decision Tree and MLP Classifier. This was my first time getting to learn and work with AI, so I'd like to extend a huge thank you to the judges, Mudit Agarwal and Tatiana Manzanares-Arroyo from BNY Mellon, for this incredible and exciting opportunity. I'd also like to thank the organizers and judges of ShellHacks 2024 for their hard work in ensuring this hackathon was a success! This entire experience was truly unforgetable, and I can't wait for my next hackathon! #ShellHacks2024

Last week was an absolute whirlwind of inspiration and growth as I had the privilege of participating in not just one, but two incredible panels! ???? First, I was honored to join a panel organized by ALPFA FIU, where I sat alongside Orlando Camargo, MS-RMI, Clifford Charles, Esteban Polanco Rincón, Angelo B., and Jaime Patino to share our journeys at Bank of America. We dove into the recruiting process, provided interviewing tips, and shared valuable insights with students. I was beyond proud to talk about Global Technology and share my wonderful experience at Bank of America! Over at #ShellHacks, I had the opportunity to speak at the WiCS FIU Women in Tech Panel "Digging Up the Past: Breaking Barriers in Tech" which was extra special to me. ?? The amazing Coral Miniel moderated this panel, and I spoke alongside Laura Castro, Nicole Cruz and Emily Salgueiros! We not only had a panel but also hosted a community-building activity that truly brought EVERYONE together. This event meant so much because we discussed the importance of breaking barriers, advocating for yourself, and celebrating the unique value each of us brings to the tech space. ?? My Advice: Always advocate for yourself and the amazing work you do!! Embrace your uniqueness, advocate for your growth, and never hesitate to claim the space you deserve in tech and beyond! ?? ?? My ShellHacks journey ?? ??????2022 - Hacker, ??♂?2023 - Mentor, ??2024 - Speaker! ShellHacks, the largest hackathon in Florida, is an unforgettable experience every year. With over 1,500 hackers and amazing sponsors it's an event that brings the tech community together in Miami. ShellHacks has been a key part of my growth in tech, and this year I was thrilled to be a speaker at the women centered events at Shell Hacks 2024! 1?? Empowering Her to Get That Offer! - Workshop I had the privilege of hosting the "Empowering Her to Get That Offer" workshop alongside a group of powerhouse women: Malak El Baz, Emily Salgueiros, Isabella Viera Estrada, and Daniella L.. The workshop was set up as a 4 Corners session, where attendees rotated through stations to get personalized advice on building a standout LinkedIn profile, crafting the perfect resume, preparing for interviews, and finding job opportunities. I remember the early days of my career when I had little guidance, so being able to share practical tips and help the next generation of women in tech was incredibly fulfilling. Watching the women interact, learn, and grow at each station was a testament to the power of mentorship and community. 2?? Digging Up the Past: Breaking Barriers in Tech" - WiCS Panel I also had the honor of moderating the "Digging Up the Past: Using Lessons from Yesterday to Break Barriers Today" panel with WiCS FIU. The panel had an amazing lineup: Mareline R., Emily Salgueiros, Nicole cruz and Laura Castro. We explored imposter syndrome, workplace advocacy, and navigating tech teams with confidence. The event fostered an empowering sense of community and support, and it was inspiring to see so many women come together. A special thanks to Elizabeth Hechavarria, David Ulloa and the INIT FIU team for inviting me to be part of this iconic event, and to the generous sponsors like Google, Microsoft, Netflix, NVIDIA, Capital One, Statefarm Insurance, Snap Inc. and many more for making this all possible.
