Sounds like an incredible conference—fascinating research and maybe even a near-puppy heist! A huge thanks to David Thompson, CFI for engaging in events like this to ensure WZ stays at the forefront of science-based training
So, you want to be a more effective interviewer? Headed back from the American Psychology- Law Society conference in Puerto Rico feeling full. New relationships, continued collaborative efforts, provocative research questions, and (I almost stole) a puppy. Events like this create a great opportunity to learn from researchers while also advocating for the practitioners perspective. Leaving here with plenty of homework, exciting opportunities and friendships. ?? Here are 5 of the (many) topics that I found most interesting and applicable to investigative interviewing: 1?? Transference and endorsement of rapport between interviewers 2?? Miranda advisements using science-based approaches with adolescent interviewees 3?? Inadvertent/Misinterpretated confessions in cross-cultural context 4?? Impact of rapport in information disclosure and cooperation 5?? Strategic confrontations relying on relational and motivational interviewing Thank you to Christian A. Meissner and the #APLS2025 team for all the work that goes into these events. Enjoyed being able to connect with other practitioners in the field, like Shaun M. Sylvester, PhD who are equally committed to the mission. We are humbled to partner with this community and do our part in bringing science based practices to the field. Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates
