A Home With A Heart

关于我们

The Wichita Children's Home, a nonprofit organization, was founded in 1888 as the city's first orphanage to "support and care for destitute and homeless children." Today, the Home offers the only emergency, temporary, residential care for children in our community. The Home is open 24/7 and serves children from birth to 22 years of age in foster homes or in the shelter.

  • March is Women’s History Month and the perfect opportunity to honor Catherine Garver and the twenty visionary women who established the Wichita Children’s Home. Over 136 years ago, they created a safe place where “children might be left and sheltered in an emergency.” Today, their legacy lives on as the Wichita Children’s Home continues to provide emergency, temporary, and residential care for children and youth in our community. These remarkable women saw a need and united to make a difference. We’re confident they would be proud of the impact their efforts continue to have. #womenshistorymonth
