The factors driving continued interest in #onlinelearning are manifold. Many #students and #faculty members are more comfortable now with #educationaltechnologies. And the flexibility and accelerated #learningopportunities that #onlineinstruction can afford have enticed #learners who are unable to commit to a four-year, in-person #collegeexperience. #Colleges see their own benefits. But doing online and doing online well are two very different things. The recent WCET cost and price of #distanceeducation report, authored by executive director, Van L. Davis, found that a majority of institutions surveyed said their #onlinecourses cost the same as, or more than, in-person courses across 21 different components of #coursedevelopment and delivery. Six components reported to be more expensive for online courses included technologies and software, instructional design, and accessibility.
