?????? Wi-STEM Africa – Science Needs Her Voice ??????? Science isn’t neutral—it carries the perspectives of those who shape it. It reflects the voices that are loudest in the room. And for too long, those voices haven’t included enough women. At Wi-STEM Africa, we see firsthand what happens when women take up space in science: ?? Researchers tackling public health challenges with community-driven solutions. ?? Engineers designing technology that works for everyone. ?? Mathematicians modeling real-world problems that affect women and children; not as an afterthought, but as a priority. But this isn’t just about representation. It’s about what happens when women’s voices are missing: ? Diseases that impact women getting overlooked. ? Technology that isn’t designed with women’s safety in mind. ? Climate solutions that don’t center the communities most affected. So when we say Her Voice in Science, we don’t just mean inspiring the next generation—we mean changing science itself. ?? Today, we’re not just celebrating women in STEM. We’re making sure science can’t move forward without them. ?? What’s one scientific breakthrough you admire that was led by a woman? Let’s celebrate them! Drop their names below. ?? #HerVoiceInScience #WomenInSTEM #WiSTEMAfrica #ScienceBelongsToEveryone

Kicking Off the Year with Confidence, Purpose, and Holistic Growth! ?? Hello Changemakers; As we step into another year filled with opportunities, we are excited to spotlight the incredible work of Nancy Akeyo, a member of the Wi-STEM Africa family and Founder of The Confidence Queen Mentorship Academy, and celebrate the synergy between her mission and the vision of Wi-STEM Africa. We at Wi-STEM Africa are committed to the holistic molding of girls. This means our personal and collective efforts focus not only on educational outcomes but also on non-educational outcomes. We believe that by addressing non-educational outcomes, such as empowering girls with the skills and resources to tackle challenges like period poverty, we can eliminate barriers that hinder their ability to stay in school. In doing so, we foster persistence and build a foundation for confidence in STEM subjects and beyond. The Confidence Queen Mentorship Academy: More Than Mentorship Nancy and her team are making waves with their mentorship program, inspiring confidence and resilience among girls in underserved communities. Through empowerment workshops, the Academy has gone beyond addressing period poverty. These workshops celebrate confidence, embrace womanhood, and foster a community of unstoppable young women, creating spaces where girls feel seen, valued, and empowered to achieve their dreams. ?? Why This Work Matters The Academy’s efforts align perfectly with our mission at Wi-STEM Africa to bridge the gender gap in STEM. Together, we are not only introducing girls to the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics but also providing them with the tools, encouragement, and support they need to thrive. ?? More Than STEM Education While STEM remains a critical focus, the Academy reminds us that empowerment is multi-faceted. By cultivating soft skills like leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving and engaging in creative projects and community service, they help girls envision brighter futures while strengthening their resilience and self-belief. ?? Our Shared Vision At Wi-STEM Africa, we envision a world where girls not only excel academically but also live fulfilled lives, equipped to solve real-world challenges with confidence and innovation. By addressing holistic needs and supporting initiatives like the Confidence Queen Mentorship Academy, we are collectively shaping a brighter, more inclusive future. We invite you to partner with us at Wi-STEM Africa to support these vital yet impactful initiatives. Together, we can empower girls, break barriers, and create lasting change in communities. Whether through resources, mentorship, or collaboration, your support can help us provide the tools and opportunities needed to nurture confidence, persistence, and success in STEM and beyond. #PartnerWithWiSTEM #EmpoweringGirls #STEMforAll #STEMforAll #WiSTEMAfrica #ConfidenceQueenMentorship #WomenInSTEM #Empowerment #HolisticEducation #NewYearNewDreams

As the year draws to a close, we at Wi-STEM Africa are reflecting on a truly remarkable journey filled with innovation, collaboration, and empowerment. This holiday season, our hearts are full of gratitude for the milestones achieved during our STEM Career Days, which spanned across Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, and Ethiopia. Through STEAM labs, hackathons, community outreach, and career preparation workshops, we’ve inspired countless young girls to envision and prepare for the future of work in STEM and innovation. These events were not just about skills—they were about unlocking potential, sparking curiosity, and building pathways for the next generation of women in STEM.
