关于我们
WHYY makes our region a better place, connecting each of us to the world's richest ideas and all of us to each other through Member-supported public media. Through WHYY-FM 90.9, WHYY-TV 12 and WHYY.org, we reach 1.3 million people on average each week in the Greater Philadelphia area. We are your local PBS and NPR member station, bringing you long-time favorite programs, such as Masterpiece and All Things Considered. But our national programs are only the tip of the iceberg. WHYY Studios produces more than a dozen local programs, such as Fresh Air with Terry Gross, You Oughta Know and The Connection with Marty Moss-Coane. We offer a robust regional news service supported by an award-winning newsroom, home to Billy Penn, PlanPhilly and the WHYY Climate Desk. We are deeply committed to the needs of young people. Many people’s first experience with WHYY is watching our award-winning PBS Kids television programs as a child. We also teach thousands of kids to make videos in 40+ local schools and at our studio. We bring together people in the region for interesting and fun events in person and online. From critical community conversations to advanced screenings with big personalities, keep an eye on WHYY.org/events for things to do all year round. Of course, all of this is only possible through Member support.

Another incredible Sustainer Summit and Open House! We loved meeting so many of you who make everything that WHYY does possible. We played games, chowed down, and even got some folks in the recording booth! It's one of our favorite nights of the year, and it's all because of our sustaining members ??

Honora Power, known as “Crazy Nora,” was something of a celebrity in 19th century Philadelphia, and immortalized as a woman both loved and feared. Nora's story reminded Daralyse Lyons of her own struggles with mental health, and the eating disorder treatment that brought her to Philly. Listen to her story: https://lnkd.in/eB9at6cV Philadelphia Revealed is an exhibition, a podcast, and a platform for anyone to add their story to Philly history. The exhibition runs July 18 - December 1 at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and features a large, interactive display of over 600 objects from the Atwater Kent Collection at Drexel University. Ten of these objects inspire the First Person Arts storytellers you’ll hear on the podcast, made by WHYY & Rowhome Productions. Visit the exhibition: https://lnkd.in/ekdQ_i6W

Baby Evie has always been Michaela Prell’s favorite doll. Soft, minimalist, gender neutral, Baby Evie slept in Michaela’s bed until it was time to go to college and the doll ended up in the bottom of a closet. A Victorian doll in the Atwater Kent collection called Flora McFlimsey — who comes with an extensive wardrobe — reminded Michaela of Baby Evie, and the difficulties of preservation.
