We’re the Why Not? Foundation. Ignited by our co-founder, Russell Westbrook, our mission is to inspire the lives of young people, teach them to always ask themselves, “WHY NOT?” and help them to build the resilience to never give up. Our three core pillars aim to create pathways of empowerment for underserved communities in the areas of educational opportunities, workforce development and accessible mental health resources. Most recently, we’ve hosted our Why Not? Basketball Camp in Los Angeles, CA for ages 8-14, held our 4th Annual Poker Night with the WORLD POKER TOUR FOUNDATION and, in partnership with Little Kitchen Academy, established the Changing Lives from Scratch Fund which aims to provide grants and scholarships to kids and teens from underserved communities. Back in high school, my friends and I would have fun doing a bunch of different stuff — throwing our backpacks, running in the street, hoop — and before we did them, we always looked at each other and asked ourselves a simple question: "WHY NOT?" After awhile, it evolved into more. It gave us confidence. It gave us a sense of meaning. Even swagger. Growing up in inner city Los Angeles, CA, we needed that. It’s become my mantra for everything I do. On the court, off the court, it doesn’t matter. It's a way of life. It applies to basketball, business and now, LinkedIn. I’d be lying if I said I saw myself being active on LinkedIn when I entered the league. But, as my basketball journey has evolved — with some hardware to bring with me — so has my business journey. Whether it’s Russell Westbrook Enterprises, the amazing work we’re doing in Los Angeles with the Why Not? Foundation, the strides RW Digital is making in the multicultural media space or what new collection my HONOR THE GIFT clothing line is crafting — I have more to say now than ever before. So, I’m excited to share I’m here for the long haul! I’m looking forward to connecting to a new audience, expanding on what I got going on off the court and giving my followers unique content you can’t see anywhere else. Because #WHYNOT?

In 2021, Russell, Nina, and longtime business partner, Donnell Beverly Jr, partnered with LA Promise Fund to launch the Westbrook Academy, to ensure students have access to a strong education, leadership development opportunities and high-quality athletic programs. The Westbrook Academy delivers world class education to South and Southeast Los Angeles youth grades 6 through 12 with a focus on developing academic achievers, athletes, artists and activists committed to social change. The new campus comes years after the middle and high school operated out of temporary locations in South Los Angeles. "Education is key to unlocking opportunity," Westbrook stated during his address to the students on Monday.?"This Academy is a place where dreams are nurtured, and leaders are made."
