This National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, we’re proud to share that Nora Sarte, our Executive Director, is featured in a blog post by National Healthcare & Housing Advisors (NHHA)! The post highlights how WPCC, NHHA, and Encompass Housing are leveraging strategic partnerships to enhance the delivery of medical care and supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. These collaborations allow us to provide holistic, compassionate care that addresses not just physical health but the full spectrum of our patients’ needs. At WPCC, we believe no one should have to choose between health and housing. Together with our partners, we’re breaking barriers and building healthier futures. #HHWeek2024 #WPCC #HealthcareForAll #EndHomelessness
The challenges of homelessness go far beyond lacking a place to call home - they include complex health needs, mental health struggles, and systemic barriers that prevent individuals from regaining stability. Organizations like National Healthcare and Housing Advisors (NHHA), Whole Person Care Clinic (WPCC), and Encompass Housing are working together to address these multifaceted issues through an innovative partnership that combines healthcare, housing, and wrap-around services. In honor of National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness week, CEO Paul Leon had a conversation with Deby Wolford of Encompass Housing and Nora Sarte of Whole Person Care Clinic to discuss their innovative partnerships and how they actively addresses the challenges of those experiencing homelessness in our neighborhoods. We recently hosted an unforgettable event to uplift and motivate our Recuperative Care clients on their journey to sobriety! A renowned crisis interventionist joined us, delivering a powerful session on the importance of staying sober and embracing a healthy, fulfilling life. The stories shared were deeply personal and resonated with everyone, leaving a lasting impact. Afterward, we celebrated with a fantastic BBQ, fostering community, support, and joy among clients and staff alike. Special thanks to Memory and Darneasha, whose hard work and dedication made this event possible. Your passion and care are invaluable! Here at WPCC, we are committed to supporting our clients on every step of their journey, and we are incredibly grateful for their vulnerability and trust in the process and in our staff. They are the reason we do what we do. ?? Check out some highlights from the day!?

Today, we proudly recognize our Recuperative Care driver, Sergeant Michael Harris, for his dedicated military service and his continued commitment to helping others. Michael began his military journey in 1987 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where he trained as a 76 Yankee Supply Specialist. He went on to serve our country with distinction in Germany, completing two overseas tours with the 1st Armor Division in Erlangen as a Unit Supply Sergeant. Michael’s service took him to Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty) in North Carolina, then back to Germany in Frankfurt, and finally to Fort Irwin, California, where he could be closer to his family. After 21 years of honorable service, Michael retired in 2008, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, honor, and sacrifice. Today, we’re incredibly fortunate to have him as part of our team, where his compassion and dedication make a lasting impact on our recuperative care clients. Thank you, Michael, for your unwavering service to our nation and for all you do here every day. Happy Veteran’s Day to you and to all veterans who have selflessly served — we are so grateful for your sacrifice. ?????? #VeteransDay #ThankYouVeterans #MilitaryService #HonoringHeroes #RecuperativeCare
