The true power of viral video marketing: it NEVER STOPS promoting. ?? 11 years ago, I created an urban legend: a guy lives inside the Astor Place Cube. Every year, this urban legend goes viral on TikTok, IG, and other social media platforms where new audiences discover & share the original video. This morning, a friend texted me this streamer's TikTok page where my video has another million views (https://lnkd.in/eB3Gnp_e). Resharing the BTS video to show how we did it. I conceptualized, directed, and edited the video. It was a fun colab with Pound & Grain to promote Chip Wilson's meditation app WHIL. The brand took a backseat in the story arc. The video was featured on The Today Show, Fox Business, and many more. I can't emphasize this enough: Build REAL things. Use REAL people. Shoot in REAL environments. Get REAL viral impact. Forever.

What a Journey! Check out our wild ride behind the scenes with "Open House Crash with Shannon Sharpe". This project was an absolute blast to bring to life, and it couldn’t have happened without the most epic team. Super thanks to our amazing partners YouTube and the National Football League (NFL) for trusting us with this adventure! Massive shoutout to Kelsey Spencer, Wes Harris, Bradley Okamoto, Julia Wiener, Joshua Carroll, and Prestin Barnett! Special appreciation to our wonderful friends at Influential – Rea Ruplinger & Dustin Byers. And, of course, big BIG love to my rockstar production team (all 130+ of you!) – C Mount Industries, Inc., Cosmo Street, and especially Javier Solis. Super Appreciative- Thank you all! ?? whoisthebaldguy

There is no half-ass way to do a viral hidden camera stunt. You gotta do it right. Here is how I do it at whoisthebaldguy. ?? ?? I've been seeing a lot of soulless imitations of hidden camera stunts on my LinkedIn timeline. They are rushed & cheaply?executed.?They are not memorable and don't have a?unique core idea. It's quick cuts of random screams. Lots of clearly staged & scripted moments. The "unsuspecting participants" are all actors. The viewer knows. The video has no impact. Entertainment clients are trying to save money by turning to vendors with zero experience in the field. They fail every time because they make every mistake in the book. Yes, these stunts have a hefty price tag if you want it done right. Yes, these stunts require a certain?skill set & solid experience. Yes, these stunts take time to prep, test, rehearse - several weeks or even months. And - yes - you gotta know what TF you are doing, especially if you are genuinely surprising real people. As a director, you gotta pour your heart into it to make it truly?memorable, magical, and impactful. You gotta be hands on with the crew. You gotta solve complex problems on set by working directly with the set designers, fabricators, engineers, and PAs. Why? Because the unique idea you?came up with needs to be executed in a unique way as well. There is no cheat sheet. It's a craft. You believe in your vision. You find and work with the best people. You could just stick a bunch of GoPros onto walls and have a guy in a scary costume jump through a movie poster. You could have the lights start to flicker in the room. You could hire actors pretending to be scared marks. You could do all these campy and predictable things we have seen a million times before. But when you do this, you can't expect it to work. Stay fresh. Go big. No half-ass. And AI ain't?gonna help you. Do you know what the best indicator is for doing it right? It's when the entire crew, cast, and the clients on set have a great time during production. It's when everyone involved is loving it, smiling, cheering. It's when crew members reach out to you weeks after the production asking to be called for the next one. That's how you know. It's when everyone is having a great time. Big Thanks to National Football League (NFL) & YouTube!

"You should make a TV show" ?? I've been hearing this for years now. I see it in the comments sections of my viral videos. I read it on people's posts & shares of my work. The interest & demand seem to be there, and 2024 does feel like the right momentum to adapt my work from short-form to long-form. This is one of many sizzles I have been working on at whoisthebaldguy over the past few months. Let me know what you think in the comments! ??

A quick 4-min montage ?? of my talk at Emerce EDAY in Amsterdam last week. I had 3 espressos that morning. Thank you Monique van Dusseldorp for inviting me. I learned a lot from the lovely people I met and the sessions I attended at EDAY. Once the sun came out, I understood why people love Amsterdam. ?? Videography by Joaquín Rinsma. Thank you!

Fact ??
Fun fact many don't know about whoisthebaldguy: we often produce other creative agencies' stunt ideas. I directed this lovely stunt for Mischief @ No Fixed Address. Two of my own kids actually made the cut ?? . Produced by the amazing Christopher Yoon, featuring the insanely talented Michael Alix. Our hidden camera production partner was DVRG with Andrew Soltys & Justin Ayers. A wonderful experience.

It is rare that a client allows me to pitch a crazy stunt idea and then gives me all the creative freedom needed to execute it the way I have envisioned it. Huge Thanks to YouTube and National Football League (NFL) for trusting me. I feel very lucky to be able to work with so many talented people. Our crew was amazing.
