Agency site visits offer invaluable firsthand insights into how programs and policies are implemented. Recently, our Fellows visited the Social Security Administration (SSA) and began their day by attending an Office of Hearing Operations SecurityStat meeting. Led by Commissioner Martin J. O’Malley, Chief Operating Officer and Acting Chief of Staff Dustin Brown, and Chief Performance Officer Adam K. (WHLDP Alum Cohort 7), the meeting featured a highly interactive discussion aimed at identifying and resolving key friction points across the agency’s highest-priority areas. They then heard from an engaging leadership panel, including Associate Commissioner Susan Camarena, D.Mgt. (WHLDP Alum Cohort 1). Discussions focused on navigating change across agencies, making a strong analytics case for the benefit of your work, and taking ownership of the process by which you make decisions. Lastly, our Fellows explored the SSA History Museum and toured the SSA Phone Operations Command Center. Throughout the day, conversations were marked by openness, curiosity, and a shared commitment to charting a path forward together. #WHLDP #LeadershipMatters Marvin Barnes, Marcos Bola?os, Ph.D., Dr. Yolanda J.
