I was PROMOTED to Mom a few months ago and I’m soaking up my last few days of Maternity Leave. It’s honestly been such a blessing getting 12 weeks leave to watch over my sweet boy and it’s definitely bittersweet to be going back. It’s going to be a bit of a transition until we figure out our groove but thankful for bosses and a company that will work with me as we figure it out. It’s comforting going back into the workforce for a company that’s been awarded a 2024 Best Place for Working Parents designation. That being said, if any of you working parents have any tips I’d love to hear them! #workingmom #workingparent

In recognition of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, here are key points from the AICPA’s recent webinar on Not-for-Profit Governance, highlighting crucial risk management strategies.
AICPA hosted an excellent webinar last week on Not-for-Profit Governance more specifically to risk. Here are a few items they mentioned that are helpful as you work in a tax-exempt organization. 1. There has been a 1,265% increase in phishing attacks since ChatGPT launched. One of the most common ways phishing attacks have increased is through vendor payments. If you're not sure you are utilizing strong systems, please reach out to me or to John Williamson, CPA.CITP, CIA, CFE, CISA. 2. USPS is asking people to stop mailing checks. There is an increase in crime based on physical checks. If you are using checks and are interested in a better way, reach out to me and our CAAS team for help looking at a better plan. 3. Don't connect work devices to WiFi unless it is both necessary and approved by an IT team. WiFi devices that do not need to be on the network at your office create more risk. 4. Focus not just on preventing cyber-attacks but on resiliency. Has your organization considered a disaster recovery, business continuity, or tabletop exercise? It is not enough to say that a tax-exempt is not "worth" targeting through cyber-attacks. You have access to vendors, databases of donors, and employees. These make you a target even if you think you are a small tax-exempt organization.
