In an effort to combat crime, Congress passed into law the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) as part of the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020 in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021.1?The CTA (31 U.S.C. § 5336) requires certain businesses to report beneficial ownership information (BOI) to the US Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
