Elevate Your Game With Sport Psychology. Sport Psychology & Mental Health For Elite Athletes & Sports Organizations
关于我们
As an elite athlete you have already had some success in your career. But like most elite athletes, you probably still have bigger goals you are trying to reach. Maybe that’s holding up that championship trophy, becoming a scholarship athlete, competing for Olympic medals, or even signing a life-changing professional contract. Unfortunately, many elite athletes run into obstacles along the way. Perhaps you are in great physical shape but your mental game is struggling. You may be experiencing mental blocks, performance anxiety, issues with perfectionism, or you are afraid to make mistakes. Maybe your obstacle is a past injury or a recent surgery. Many injured athletes spend a lot of time worrying about the future and getting back to the athlete they were before they got hurt. These situations involve a lot of uncertainty; most elite athletes naturally don’t like uncertainty. We know how disappointing it is to train for months on end only to come up short. We’ve been that athlete whose mental game gave us the edge one day and was our worst enemy the next. White House Sport Psychology is dedicated to elite athletes who want to train their brain and build their mental game. We are here to help you develop a performance mindset that helps you do things like, regain your mental edge, take your talents to the next level, and trust your body to stay healthy and hold up to months of training, practice, and competition. Ultimately, competing in sport is both a physical and mental experience. But, the mind controls the body. Without a strong mind, your body can only do so much. We are here to help you unlock your mental game so you can unleash your true athletic potential, overcome the obstacles that are in your way, and achieve your goals.

?? A Story Every Athletic Director, Coach, and Athletics Staff Member Should Hear ?? Several years ago, I met a former football player who shared a story about overcoming deep depression and suicidal thoughts. His journey is inspiring—but it nearly ended in tragedy. Like many athletes today, he faced pressures on and off the field: family struggles, limited playing time, high expectations, and an overwhelming schedule. When his depression worsened, he sought professional help. But during just his second session, this exchange happened: ??? Athlete: “I’m living my dream, but I feel like I’m in a nightmare.” ?? Counselor: “You seem overwhelmed. Have you thought about quitting football?” ?? Athlete: “Football is the only thing keeping me alive right now.” He never returned to that counselor. Take a moment to reflect on this. His counselor missed the significance of sports in his life, leading to a suggestion that could have had devastating consequences. This story underscores a crucial point: athletes need mental health support from professionals trained in sport psychology—a specialty that goes beyond traditional therapy. Sport psychology understands the culture, context, and mental demands of athletics, providing a tailored approach for athletes’ needs. ?? Think of it like this: coaches may understand nutrition basics, but they aren’t the team dietician. Asking traditional therapists to handle the specific needs of athletes is like expecting a coach to plan every athlete's meals—important details get overlooked. At White House Sport Psychology, we receive calls each month from those who say, “We tried a regular therapist, but…” Athletes deserve support from those trained in both mental health AND sports performance. Let’s ensure no athlete feels misunderstood when seeking help. Together, we can make sure that athletes get the specialized support they need—because their mental game is just as important as their physical one. ?? Have you ever encountered a similar experience, or seen the impact of sport psychology firsthand? Let’s discuss how we can support our athletes better. We love teaching our athletes about the power of the mind and ability to find their calm in competition. “Doing contemplative practice, like meditation, will help manage pressure and stress effectively and create space between stimulus and response, allowing for better decision-making. You have the power to choose your response, rather than just react." - George Mumford The staff at White House Sport Psychology teaches mindfulness and mediation techniques to our clients which helps them return or remain in a calm presence allowing the body to simply do what it does best, COMPETE! https://lnkd.in/e4etnjKV
