Patty is now the director of social services and admissions, and will oversee social workers in both Healthcare and independent living. Patty's conscientious performance and her deep knowledge of our community make her a great fit for this role, and her new title reflects her many contributions. #newrole #promotion #congratulations #teamwork

  • As we celebrate Women's History Month, we want to recognize all the women who make a difference in our community. Here are just two of them: Annie Cantymagli, senior director of healthcare services, and resident Dale Steffens. Annie was drawn to working with seniors at a young age. Serving in executive leadership in multiple senior communities, Annie has enjoyed the challenge of building programs through team collaboration. She compares it to painting a blank canvas, getting to express her creativity by developing programs that benefit residents. “I like helping build foundations, and watching programs grow and blossom. It’s joyful for me,” she says. “I feel truly called to this.” She sees mentoring as part of her role as a leader. “We all need to be responsible to help grow and foster the next generation of caregivers, healthcare employees, and leaders.” Resident Dale Steffens also spent a career building relationships. Early on, she served on the staff of Sen. Abe Ribicoff of Connecticut and then Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont. She eventually transitioned to working for an architecture firm as a business development director, where she built relationships with potential clients. There, she realized she had found her true passion. Dale was on the cusp of change in a couple of ways. For one thing, it was unusual for a woman to work in the architecture field at that time. Another change was the industry’s increasing focus on environmental responsibility, like making sure lumber is sustainably harvested, focusing on local suppliers to reduce gas and transportation costs, or creating designs that conserve energy. Dale was fascinated by the concept. Her interest in sustainable design led her to earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. One of the things that drew Dale to White Horse Village was its own environmentally friendly design, especially the geothermal heating and cooling system, which was very cutting edge when the community was built. “I was amazed when I first came to visit.” Although there are still challenges for women in architecture, Dale is glad to see more women joining the industry and moving up to positions of responsibility. “I think that makes a huge difference when women who get to that point are willing to mentor other women,” she says. #womenshistorymonth #seniorliving #careers
