Final reminder: Webinar TODAY at 2pm EST for JOURNALISTS on Trump Admin's assault on Inspectors General, the Special Counsel and the Merit System Protection Board. Our experts break down the destruction of independent accountability mechanisms and the fight against it.
Join Whistleblower Aid's legal and accountability experts as they assess the damage done by the Trump administration's assault on Inspector General offices and other avenues typically used by whistleblowers to report lawbreaking. As Trump loyalists take control of previously apolitical appointments across the government, our webinar will examine ways of adapting and pushing back against this unprecedented new reality so vital information still reaches the public domain and provides some measure of protection against official corruption and abuse of power. Featured speakers include: Mark Zaid, co-founder of Whistleblower Aid and prominent national security attorney who recently had his security clearance revoked in retaliation for his successful championing of whistleblowers Andrew Bakaj, Chief Legal Counsel of Whistleblower Aid and a former CIA/Inspector General attorney Naomi Seligman, Chief Strategy Officer of Whistleblower Aid and longtime accountability advocate who previously helped launch CREW and Media Matters

Mark Zaid and our team have fought government corruption and seen every kind of retaliation imaginable, but what's happening inside the government now is truly unprecedented. "They may continue to do a lot of the functions that an IG would do...but will ensure that neither Trump nor his top political appointees would ever be subject to true oversight." https://lnkd.in/eewaKMfu

"The voices of whistle-blowers must continue to be heard. And if the federal government will no longer provide them a haven, then private and nonprofit legal groups must step up to protect them in every way possible." - Whistleblower Aid team writing in the New York Times today.
When President Trump purged at least 15 Inspectors General last Friday, my colleague Mark Zaid and I felt compelled to speak up.? The Inspectors General are a central pillar of post-Watergate guardrails put in place to protect against waste, fraud, abuse and corruption within the federal government. Their independent role is why whistleblowers can trust them to investigate their disclosures and keep them safe? from retaliation. President Trump attacked this system in his first term, but what happened last week is an order of magnitude more dangerous. It’s a frontal assault on accountability within the government. My team at Whistleblower Aid and I are committed to ensuring whistleblowers can get the truth out safely no matter what lies ahead.?? https://lnkd.in/enSxfctn

New Case Alert: Whistleblower Exposes Systematic Destruction of Sacred Native American Sites by the U.S. Forest Service – including within the Trail of Tears Corridor Our client Scott Ashcraft, a 30+ year career Forest Archeologist revealed that the Forest Service in North Carolina has spent years ignoring evidence and data about systematic failures to identify Native American heritage sites before they are destroyed by development projects, logging and controlled burns. Worse - they are hiding this information from the Tribes and the public. The story has massive national implications because the flawed and outdated methodology the Forest Services uses to identify sites is applied nationwide. Please share today's AP report and if you work in the advocacy space, media or government and are interested in connecting with us on this issue, get in touch! https://lnkd.in/eyzWhvp9

Our last presidential election saw unprecedented attacks on those trying to protect a fair and safe transfer of power - from poll workers to Secretaries of State and all the way to the steps of the U.S. Congress as they certified the vote. We've represented multiple January 6 whistleblowers as well as the anonymous intelligence community whistleblower who revealed Donald Trump's Ukraine phone call, leading to his first impeachment. We are prepared to defend those who witness attempts to subvert this election, and help them blow the whistle safely, legally and with impact. https://lnkd.in/eYShvhUJ
