Today, as the US celebrates Thanksgiving, it is crucial to recognize the dark underside of this national holiday. To American Indians, the day is marked as a National Day of Mourning. As the #LandBack has been a strong inspiration to our own #BlackLandBack movement, we stand firmly with Native communities in advocating for repair and restitution. Check out a few organizers we follow in the #LandBack and Indigenous liberation space: @NDNCollective @BlackIndigenousLiberation @NativeOrganizersAlliance #LandBack #NationalDayOfMourning #Plymouth #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice #BlackLandBack

Thank you to everyone who heeded the previous CTA, despite this new development. Unfortunately, HR 9495 is on its way to the Senate for another vote after passing in the House, 219–184. Activist and humanitarian organizations have widely criticized the bill as a way for the government to silence critics and restrict the effectiveness of social justice movements. We must prevent this bill from passing in the Senate. It would be devastating to pro-Palestine organizers, as well as organizations like ours and our sponsors. Follow this link to access the toolkit and send a letter to congress! bit.ly/Stop9495 #hr9495 #BLM #BlackLandBack #ReparationsNow #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice #WhereIsMyLand

Recently, we were invited by FutureGood to speak with their DEI team inside the Viceroy Hotel - at the very location where Silas White's Ebony Beach Club used to stand. His niece, Milana Davis (our Advocacy Lead), spoke to the group in an emotional speech - here are a few highlights! Thank you to FutureGood for this amazing opportunity and for supporting our work. We are also excited to congratulate Natalya Zernitskaya, Barry A. Snell, Ellis Raskin, and Dan Hall as the newest members of Santa Monica City Council going into next year! #BlackLandBack #WhereIsMyLand #ReparationsNow #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice #EbonyBeachClub #SilasWhite #SantaMonica

We cannot allow H.R. 9495 to pass! H.R. 9495 gives the US Treasury Secretary power to designate nonprofit organizations as "terrorist-supporting" and cut them off from tax exemptions, at the sole discretion of the administration. The bill, which was defeated in a House vote a week ago, has now been brought back in a second attempt to strip back freedom to speak and organize in the US. If H.R. 9495 were to pass, experts and activists say that the incoming administration will be able to abuse the bill to silence organizations critical of the government, including organizations like ours, and especially pro-Palestine advocates. The bill will be up for another vote this week. Call your local representative now and urge them to vote NO! https://ow.ly/eIXc50U9Ax8 #WhereIsMyLand #RestorativeJustice #BlackLandBack #ReparativeJustice #ReparationsNow #HR9495 #Palestine

November of 1898 was marked by yet another massacre by white supremacists. This time, a white mob formed to take over Wilmington, NC after white residents rejected local election results. Angered that Black residents were gaining too much representation, white supremacists gathered with the aid of local newspapers and coordinated an attack on the armory. In the anarchy that followed, white mobsters killed potentially hundreds of Black residents, destroyed their property, and burned down Black-owned news outlet The Daily Record. The heinous attack is known as the only successful coup d'état against the US. #BlackLandBack #ReparationsNow #RestitutionNow #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice #election #WilmingtonMassacre #insurrection #WhereIsMyLand

Today, we celebrate and honor those who have served their country - but let's also remember that not all of our veterans received their hero's welcome. Black veterans were historically subjected to racism and financial discrimination upon returning home, and veterans programs such as the famous GI bill were designed to exclude Black veterans as much as possible, setting Black Americans even further behind than their white compatriots. #BlackLandBack #ReparationsNow #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice #WhereIsMyLand #VeteransDay #GIbill

This week's federal-level setback makes grassroots and community-level activism even more essential. We may feel angry, disappointed, sad, or anxious, but we will never be discouraged. At the end of the day, our mission remains the same. #WhereIsMyLand #BlackLandBack #ReparationsNow #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice #election

The presidential election is tomorrow - but that's not the only important item on the ballot! We are calling all Californians to vote YES on Prop 6, which will no longer allow prisons to enforce their unethical labor programs. The prison labor system works in tandem with institutionalized racism to once again extract profit from Black bodies. And not only are these programs detrimental to the rehabilitation of prisoners, forcing them into modern-day slavery - they pose an even greater threat to female inmates. Investigations have shown that correctional officers use the labor program in order to sexually abuse inmates - a practice for which the victims have no recourse. The prison labor system is corrupt from top to bottom - hence why we must vote YES on Prop 6 to finally get rid of slavery in the state of California. #Prop6 #vote #prisonlabor #election2024 #BLM #WhereIsMyLand #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice #ReparationsNow
