Today is #EqualPayDay. On average, a woman in the U.S. has to work until today — March 25th — to earn what a white man was paid in 2024. ??????♀??? And the gender wage gap is even worse for women of color. Compared to white men: ??Latina and Native women earn 58 cents ??Black women earn 66 cents ??White women earn 80 cents ??Asian American women earn 94 cents If you care about #wages and #payinequality, the politicians WE elect can create policies to address it. Make sure you are registered to vote right now at https://lnkd.in/ekYMHPyE.

Congress is at a critical crossroads for our #democracy. In this edition of “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly,” our monthly series about recent news in voting rights, we go over: ?? THE GOOD: The U.S. House of Representatives reintroduced the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, an essential bill to protect the fundamental right to vote for all Americans. ?? THE BAD: New Hampshire’s new voter ID law requires all voters to provide proof of U.S. citizenship (like a passport or birth certificate) when they register to vote. This change caused difficulties in recent local elections, especially for women who changed their name after marriage or divorce. ?? THE UGLY: Congress is set to vote on the SAVE Act, a dangerous bill that could make it harder to vote for more than 20 million Americans. This bill is designed to silence our voices and make it harder for us to advocate for issues like healthcare, jobs, and economic security. ???? The U.S. House of Representatives is currently considering a dangerous attack on our right to vote: the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. Let’s be clear: this bill will not “save” anything. The SAVE Act is designed to restrict our voices and take away our power by intimidating, suppressing, and disenfranchising millions of voters. Instead of undermining the freedom to vote, we should be expanding access to voting. ?????? This is where YOU come in. With Congress expected to vote on the SAVE Act soon, call or email your representatives right now and tell them to vote “NO” on this dangerous bill. Visit https://WeAll.Vote/fight to take action.

In the last year, more than 300 bills that make it harder to vote have been introduced across the country. But even with these targeted attacks on our voting rights, there is still hope. Today, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act was reintroduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, which would protect voters from discrimination by restoring and strengthening parts of the Voting Rights Act. Especially now, we need federal voting rights legislation like this bill to make sure ALL Americans are able to vote freely and fairly. The power should be in the hands of the people. ??????

Voters just want to have fun. Literally. That’s why When We All Vote created Party at the Polls — a nonpartisan, evidence-backed program proven to boost voter turnout by up to 4% through early voting parties hosted at or near polling places. By making voting accessible, inclusive, and fun, our Party at the Polls program empowers local partners to host a party in their neighborhood and increase voter turnout. In 2024, we: ?? Hosted over 550 parties ?? Engaged more than 85,000 attendees ?? Sent early voting reminders to more than 13 million voters Read more about our work to transform voting from a solitary action into a community celebration for all ages with our Executive Director Beth Lynk: https://lnkd.in/ecZ5kkvX

“Many would lead you to believe athletes should just ‘shut up and dribble,’ and even go to great lengths to create backlash and suppress athletes’ voices. But we know that athletes are more than just their sport…We believe in their power and their stories, and we tailor each and every campaign and opportunity to their unique perspectives.” As a nonpartisan initiative, When We All Vote recognizes the power of sports to bring people together across race, gender, age, and political beliefs to cheer for one common goal. That’s why we work with athletes, teams, and leagues to help their fans and communities get registered and ready to vote across the country. ???????? Last night, When We All Vote hosted their first community call of the year to discuss what’s going on and ways to get involved. ICYMI – here are our key takeaways: ?? People are hungry to get involved: More than 1,600 people RSVP’d to join last night’s call and the energy was high in the chat. Across the country, volunteers are ready to lean in on strengthening our democracy. ?? 2025 elections are all about local:?At least 45 states have elections this year with more than 100,000 open seats on the ballot. While five states have statewide races on the ballot, the vast majority of seats are at the local and municipal level. Everything from mayors and city council members to school boards, sheriffs and more. ??? No “off years:” When We All Vote’s calendar for the year is packed with commemorating historic events, local elections, and engaging their community all year to take action. ?? There are even more opportunities for young people: The new My School Votes Advisory Fellowship is accepting applications now! This is a paid opportunity for young leaders ages 18+ to lead, learn, and make a lasting difference. Learn more at WeAll.Vote/fellowship. When We All Vote’s Executive Director Beth Lynk was joined by When We All Vote Ambassadors Kamie Krawford, Loni Love, Marsai Martin, and Lynae Vanee, and Janai Nelson from the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc.. The biggest takeaway? Stay connected! Get involved locally, check your voter registration, follow When We All Vote on social media, and take care of yourself.
